Google Ads, Meta Ads, or TikTok Ads: Choose from Business Requirements
READ WHAT MATTERS TO YOU
Where would you like to start?

“Is Google Ads, Meta Ads, or TikTok Ads better?” This question naturally arises when you want to start advertising. However, a platform that works for one business may not be the same starting point for another business.
To make the choice more sensible, look at three things together: the campaign objective, how people understand the offer, and the materials you can prepare. The number of users or a busy platform alone is not enough to make a decision.
Start with the action you want to help
Do you want people to get to know your product, open your catalogue, send you a request, or make a purchase? Write the goal in concrete language. “Want to be busy” is difficult to use as a guideline when you have to evaluate campaign results.
In the official material, Meta Blueprint linking the selection of objectives with business goals. TikTok Ads Manager also asks advertisers to choose objectives that align with the results they want to achieve. So, the decision starts before choosing a visual format.
Google Ads: first discuss the type of campaign in question
Google Ads has several types of campaigns. For comparison in this article, we use Search campaigns as an example. Documentation Google Ads explained that Search campaigns can reach people who are looking for products or services online.
This is worth discussing when your product or service has a searchable need. Research is still needed to understand the terms people use, relevant locations, and the pages they land on.
For example, a service provider has a clear offer and accepts requests via a form. In this hypothetical example, initial discussions could focus on the type of service sought and the readiness of the landing page. We cannot conclude the results just because the choice of platform has already been determined.
Meta Ads: prepare message for discovery context
For ads on Facebook and Instagram, think about how your offer is understood when it appears among other content. A basic explanation of the use of advertising on both platforms is available in Meta Blueprint guide.
From a creative planning perspective, prepare several message angles that can be tested. For example, explaining customer problems, how to use a product, or practical reasons for choosing a service. Use information that you can be responsible for, including claims on visuals and text.
If the material only explains the name of the product without context, visitors may not know why the offer is relevant. The content brief needs to help the team understand who they are talking to and what action to expect after seeing the ad.
TikTok Ads: think about the material and the sequel at once
TikTok can be included in the discussion when your business is ready to prepare material that suits the platform experience. Don't make a choice just from the assumption that the audience must have the same profile.
Check production readiness as well as material updates. Who writes messages, creates visuals or videos, checks information, and prepares the next version? Once people are interested, also determine whether they need to open the website, fill in information, or take other actions according to the campaign.
The objectives and available options need to be checked directly in the account during preparation. Avoid building an entire plan from feature names or campaign examples that are not yet certain to be suitable for your needs.
Use these questions before dividing the budget
- What offers will be tested, and for whom?
- How do potential customers usually search for or get to know solutions?
- What materials are ready, and who can update them?
- Have the landing and contact pages been checked?
- What actions will be measured as outcomes?
- Who follows up on responses after the campaign is running?
If the budget and team capacity are still limited, starting from one test plan can be more manageable. Write down the assumptions you want to test, the materials needed, and the evaluation time. The need for additional platforms is then discussed based on available findings.
Compare equivalent results
Don't immediately equate clicks with potential customers who are ready to buy. Agree on the definition of leads and valuable actions before the campaign is launched. The sales team's notes also need to be read so that decisions don't just follow the biggest numbers on the dashboard.
